EQuIS WQX Schema

The EQuIS WQX Schema (schema.WQX.xme) is not included with the standard EQuIS installation and must be manually applied. See Apply Additional Modules/Schemas to a Database for additional information. This will add new tables, fields, views and reports to the database.

 

Note: A Premium Enterprise license is required to apply the EQuIS WQX Schema to an EQuIS Enterprise site. See Applying Licenses in EQuIS Enterprise for additional information.

 

 

New Tables

 

The WQX Schema stores data in the following new tables:

•DT_BIOLOGICAL_RESULT – Describes the attributes of a biological sample result (e.g., specimen type, biological intent, taxon, etc.).  

•DT_BIOLOGICAL_SAMPLE – Describes the attributes of a biological sample (e.g., assemblage sampled, collection method, etc.).

•DT_LOCATION_VAR – Describes the designators used to identify monitoring locations from WQX.

•RT_ANATOMY – Lists the anatomical body tissue that may be used in samples as defined in the SampleTissueAnatomy domain list (e.g., abdomen, ear, arm, etc.).

•RT_ASSEMBLAGE – Lists associations of interacting populations of organisms in or near a water body as defined in the Assemblage domain list. (e.g., Fish, Amphibians, Reptiles, etc.).

•RT_BIOLOGICAL_INTENT – Lists reasons for biological sampling as defined in the BiologicalIntent domain list (e.g., Group Summary, Population Census, etc.).

•RT_CELL_FORM – Lists names of the cell forms for phytoplankton organisms as defined in the CellForm domain list (e.g., Filaments, Flagellates, etc.).

•RT_CELL_SHAPE – Lists names of the cell shapes for phytoplankton organisms as defined in the CellShape domain list (e.g., Cylindrical, Fusiform, Rod, Sphere, etc.).

•RT_CONTAINER_COLOR – Lists the colors of sampling containers as defined in the SampleContainerColor domain list (e.g., Amber, Black, Clear, etc.).

•RT_CONTAINER_TYPE – Lists the types of sampling containers as defined in the SampleContainerType domain list (e.g., Aluminum Dish, Teflon Bottle, etc.).

•RT_COUNTRY – Lists countries as defined in the Country domain list.

•RT_COUNTY – Lists counties within states as defined in the County domain list.

•RT_DETECT_FLAG – Lists the result detection conditions as defined in the ResultDetectionCondition domain list.

•RT_HABIT – Lists positions in the food chain as defined in the Habit domain list (e.g., Burrower, Climber, Swimmer, etc.).

•RT_METHOD_CONTEXT – Lists the source or context for analytic methods as defined in the AnalyticalMethodContext domain list (e.g., AOAC, APHA, USEPA, etc.).

•RT_METHOD_SPECIATION – Lists the chemical speciations for results as defined in the MethodSpeciation domain list (e.g., "as N", "as NH3", "as NH4", etc.).

•RT_NET_TYPE – Lists the types of nets used in biological sampling as defined in the NetType domain list.

•RT_RELATIVE_DEPTH – Lists the approximate locations within a water column at which sampling occured as defined in the RelativeDepth domain list (e.g., Bottom, Midwater, Surface, etc.).

•RT_STAT_TYPE – Lists methods for calculating derived results as defined in the StatisticalBase domain list (e.g., 15 Pctl, Mean, Median).

•RT_TEMP_BASIS – Lists the names of controlled temperatures at which the sample was maintained during analysis as defined in the ResultTemperatureBasis domain list.

•RT_TEMP_PRESERVE_TYPE – Lists the different means that were used to preserve sample temperature as defined in the ThermalPreservativeUsed domain list (e.g., dry ice, wet ice, etc.).

•RT_TIME_BASIS – Lists the various durations of time in which a measurement took place as defined in the ResultTimeBasis domain list.

•RT_TIMEZONE – Lists the different time zones in which a measurement took place as defined in the TimeZone domain list.

•RT_TOXICITY_TYPE – Lists the types of toxicity as defined in the ToxicityTestType domain list (e.g., Acute, Chronic).

•RT_TRIBE – Lists the tribes as defined in the Tribe domain list.  

•RT_VALUE_TYPE – Lists the processes that may be used to determine the result value as defined in the ResultValueType domain list (e.g., Actual, Calculated, etc.).

•RT_VOLTINISM – Lists the numbers of broods or generations of the characteristic in a year as defined in the Voltinism domain list.

•RT_WEIGHT_BASIS – Lists the sample weight references on which the reported result is based as defined in the ResultWeightBasis domain list (e.g., wet weight, dry weight, ash-free dry weight).

 

 

New Fields in Standard Tables

 

The following standard Schema tables are modified with the addition of fields for the WQX workflow:  

AT_SUBFACILITY_LOCATION

•WEIGHTING_FACTOR – The recorded dimension, capacity, quality, or amount of something ascertained by measuring or observing.

•WEIGHTING_FACTOR_UNIT – The code that represents the unit for measuring the WEIGHTING_FACTOR.

•STATISTICAL_STRATUM – Identifies the statistical stratum applied to this site.

•STATUS – Indicates whether this site is active and available for sampling.

•START_DATE – The calendar date on which the monitoring location started being used as a reference site.

•END_DATE – The calendar date on which the monitoring location stopped being used as a reference site.

•CITATION – Identifies the source that created or defined the Reference Location.

•REMARK – General comments about the project monitoring location weighting.

DT_FIELD_SAMPLE  

•PREP_METHOD – Identifying information about the method(s) followed to prepare a sample for analysis.

DT_FILE

•PUBLISHER – An entity responsible for making the resource available.

DT_LOCATION

•TRIBAL_LAND_NAME – The name of an American Indian or Alaskan native area where the location exists.

•TRIBAL_LAND_YN – An indicator denoting whether the location is on a tribal land.

DT_LOCATION_PARAMETER  

•IDENTIFIER – A designator used to describe the unique name, number, or code assigned to identify the index record.

•CITATION – Collection procedure citation.

•SCORE – Provides the score for the index.

•QUALIFIER – A code used to identify any qualifying issues that affect the index.

DT_RESULT

•METHOD_SPECIATION – Identifies the chemical speciation in which the measured result is expressed.

DT_SAMPLE

•EQUIPMENT_TYPE – Type of equipment being used for sampling.

•EQUIPMENT_DESC – Description of equipment being used for sampling.

DT_SAMPLE_PARAMETER

•CITATION – Provides additional description of the source that created or defined the metric.

•SCORE – Provides the scaled or calculated score for the activity metric.

•IDENTIFIER – A unique designator used to identify a unique index record to which the activity metric is associated.

DT_TASK

•QAPP_APPROVAL_YN – Indicates whether a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) has been approved for the submitted project.

•QAPP_APPROVAL_AGENCY – An outside approval authority identifier for the QAPP (e.g. EPA or State Organization).

DT_TEST

•ANALYSIS_DATE_TIMEZONE – Time zone of the analysis.

•ANALYSIS_END_DATE – End date of the analysis.

•PREP_DATE_TIMEZONE – Time zone of the prep date.

•PREP_END_DATE – End date of the preperation.

•BIOLOGICAL_INTENT – The biological intent of the test.

•TAXON – The taxon associated with the test.

DT_WELL

•GEOLOGIC_UNIT_TYPE – The geologic unit type associated with the well.

RT_ANALYTE_DETAIL

•FRACTION_REQUIRED_YN – Indicates whether or not a fraction is required of the analyte.

RT_LOCATION_PARAM_TYPE  

•CONTEXT – Identifies the source or data system that created or defined the monitoring location identifier.

•SCALE – Provides a description of the scale used for the activity metric.

RT_PREP_METHOD

•CONTEXT – Identifies the source or data system that created or defined the identifier.

•QUALIFIER_TYPE – Identifies the classification of the preparation method, such as reference, equivalent, or another recognized type.

•REMARK – Remark field allowing additional information about the preparation method.

RT_SAMPLE_METHOD

•CONTEXT – Identifies the source or data system that created or defined the sampling method.

•QUALIFIER_TYPE – Identifies the classification of the sampling method, such as reference, equivalent, or another recognized type.

RT_SAMPLE_PARAM_TYPE

•CONTEXT – Identifies the source or data system that created or defined the sampling parameter.

•SCALE – Provides a description of the scale used for the sampling parameter.

•FORMULA – Provides a description of the formula used to calculate the sampling parameter.

RT_TAXON

•RANK – Rank of the taxon.
