The EQuIS Data Processor (EDP) is used to import data from a gINT project database. The gINT format file (gINT.xse) will import data from the "gint us.gpj" project database installed with the EQuIS for gINT Interface. (a "gint us.gpj" other than the installed version may be imported, but additional steps may be required to resolve data issues).
The gINT format file contains the following formats which correspond to the "gint us.gpj" project database: PROJECT, POINT, CPT, LITHOLOGY, REMARKS, SAMPLE, TESTS, WELL
When the "gint us.gpj" project database is opened, each of the formats is populated with data from the corresponding table. Other gINT databases may be opened using the gINT.xse format file. However, only data from the tables and fields which exist in both the gINT database and the format file will be loaded. For example, the "gint us lab.gpj" may also be loaded into EDP using the gINT format file. Many of the tables containing laboratory data such as DIRECT SHEAR, COMPACTION, HYDROMETER and others will be ignored as they are not defined in the gINT.xse format file. Furthermore, the TESTS table in the gINT.xse will not be populated, as that table does not exist in the "gint us lab.gpj". In order to import additional data from the "gint us lab.gpj" or from other gINT databases, the gINT.xse and gINT.vb files would need to be customized to include the definition, mapping, and any custom handling information for those tables and fields.
As gINT database are project-based, the EQuIS facility should be the same as the gINT project Name and Number in the PROJECT table. (If the DT_FACILITY table is populated from the gINT database, the Insert and Update commit will change the facility code and name to the project number and name defined in the gINT PROJECT table).
1.Click the EDD (EDP) button to open EDP in the Import group on the Home tab of EQuIS Professional.
2.Click the Format button in the Open group, in EDP, to open a format file.
3.Browse to the gINT format file, "gINT.xse" (or gINT.zip).
4.Click the EDD button to open the gINT project database.
5.Browse to the "us gint.gpj" project database. This file is found under the Example\gINT subfolder of the EQuIS installation, e.g. "C:\Program Files\EarthSoft\EQuIS\Examples\gINT" or, for per-user installation," %localappdata%\Programs\EarthSoft\EQuIS\Examples\gINT".
Once the gINT database has been opened in EDP, each of the tables will be populated with data from the corresponding table in the gINT database. Tables highlighted in red have errors that must be resolved before data may be imported into EQuIS. Tables highlighted in green have no errors.
1.Select the LITHOLOGY table by clicking on LITHOLOGY.
Several of the rows show an error in the Graphic column (indicated by a green background). Hover the mouse over any of these cells for the tooltip "Reference value not found".
Tip - Properties of the Graphic Column: Hover over the Graphic column header for other properties of this field, including that it: ▪Allows text values up to 255 characters ▪Is mapped to the EQuIS Database field DT_LITHOLOGY.MATERIAL_NAME ▪Is a valid value column (foreign key) to RT_MATERIAL.MATERIAL_NAME |
The "Reference value not found" errors that appear in the Graphic column, appear because those material names are not found in the RT_MATERIAL table. These errors may be resolved by selecting a valid value from the drop-down list in the cell or by adding the reference value to the table. Using a new database, the reference values must be added, because there are no values in RT_MATERIAL.
Reference values can be added individually, by column or by adding all reference values in the dataset that do not exist in the database. In this case, add all reference values:
2.Right-click on any error cell in the Graphic column.
3.Select "Add All Values, All Formats" from the drop-down menu.
All errors should now be resolved in all tables. Each of the gINT tables should be displayed in green, which is the default color for a table without any data errors.
Once any errors or problems with the data have been resolved, the data package can be created and committed to the database.
1.Click the Create button on the EDP Professional tab. Each row in each data table is processed, and the progress is displayed.
2.Click Finish. All rows of data should now be removed from the EDD (format file) tab and should be visible on the Package tab.
3.Click the Commit button and select Insert and Update.
4.Click Finish.
