Description: The EnviroInsite Cross-Section Report produces a cross-section figure that is generated using the EnviroInsite data visualization application and saves the figure as a raster or vector image file.

Installation Instructions: See the EnviroInsite Report Installation article for more detailed information.

For EQuIS Professional, a local installation of EQuIS EnviroInsite 7 is required to run the report.

Note: Using versions of EnviroInsite and Professional on the same machine that are not aligned can produce an 'evaluation' version of the report output. This occurs when using:

A version of EnviroInsite >7.23.2 and a version of Professional <7.23.2

A version of EnviroInsite <7.23.3 and a version of Professional > 7.23.2

For EQuIS Enterprise and ArcEQuIS, additional files must be added to the Enterprise bin folder. The required files are packaged (EnviroInsite_Enterprise_package_x64_{#}.zip) and available on the EarthSoft Community Center Downloads page (All Items\Products\EnviroInsite\v7).

ArcEQuIS also requires that the report be published to the database in EQuIS Professional.

Overview:

A template file, uploaded to the DT_FILE table, is required to run this export report. Modifications within the design template allow for additional control of the cross-section content and format. The form relies on the cross-section template file to describe the cross-section content. For example, the template file may include contours, water levels, soil intervals, stratigraphy, data tables, time-history charts, or color-coded sample intervals. The template file should be created in the desktop application of EnviroInsite and imported into the EQuIS database prior to running the report. Complete the following steps to create a template file:

1.Start EnviroInsite. Be sure UTM is selected in the drop-down on the EnviroInsite toolbar. More information on EnviroInsite coordinates systems is available on the EnviroInsite Coordinates page.

2.Create a cross-section following the steps in Cross-Section Trace.

3.Add the data visualization features to appear in the report output.

4.Create the template file by selecting View> Template> Save from the main menu.

5.Since the EnviroInsite cross-section template was created in UTM, the Cross-Section Node Coordinates report parameters will also require coordinates in UTM. It may be helpful to digitize the points used in the cross-section trace, using the Edit > Digitize option from the main menu in EnviroInsite.

The contents of the template are stored within the DT_FILE table. Typically, template files are uploaded into the database using the Docs and Photos Form within EQuIS Professional. The FILE_TYPE field should be set to ".xml", and the file content is stored in the CONTENT field.

Notes:

The cross-section vertical axes and the elevation & depth spans of object queries are defined within the template file, which makes a template file difficult to share between facilities, as those values may not be appropriate for the destination facility. They can be manually changed by editing the template file within a text editor but would likely require extensive edits.

To change to share a template between multiple facilities of a database, clear the content of DT_FILE.FACILITY_ID.

This report may also be run from an EZView widget in EQuIS Enterprise. To appropriately run in the widget, the report needs to be published from EQuIS Professional for the database to be accessed from EQuIS Enterprise. Other supporting dll files that must be present in the bin folder are listed in EnviroInsite Report Installation.

Input Parameters: The following parameters may be selected from the standard EQuIS parameter selection interface. Readers are referred to the EnviroInsite documentation for more information on cross-section properties and the properties of plotted objects.

Report Parameters

Template File (required)

Select a template file from DT_FILE records for which the FILE_TYPE field is set to “.xml”. The template file describes the content and format of the generated cross-section and may be loaded into the DT_FILE table using the Docs and Photos form within EQuIS Professional.

Map Source and Style

Select from an aerial photo, map or topographic map from ArcGIS Online or Azure Maps. Select 'None' to not plot a base map.

Show Key Map?

Check to plot plan view key map with cross-section profile line.

Identifying Section Letter

Indicate the letter to be used in the key map and on the cross-section that identifies the cross-section profile line.

Cross-Section Node Coordinates (at least two node points must be defined.

Enter the easting – northing map coordinates of each profile line node point as comma-delimited pairs. Do not include commas as thousand delimiters. These should be entered in the default display coordinates. Coordinates are automatically set to UTM if no SRID value is entered in the active row of RT_COORD_TYPE.SRID.

Output Type (required)

Select the file output type from the following list of permissible values: PDF, SVG, DXF, DWG, SHP, EMF, WMF, PNG, JPG, TIF, VDS, and VDML.

Zip Output?

Check to zip output file(s).
