Hardware and Software Requirements

EQuIS 7 scales to meet the needs of a wide variety of clients, from a single user to large organizations. This section addresses hardware and software requirements for EQuIS. The following provide guidelines for selecting hardware that is adequate to satisfactorily run the required software (such as the operating system and database server) for EQuIS. This listing is provided for information only and does not indicate a recommendation from EarthSoft.

Other Requirements

Microsoft IIS URL Rewrite.

The Enterprise web application requires Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Chrome.

WebGL 2 must be enabled to use mapping widgets due to changes implemented by Esri. WebGL 2 is included with newer versions of Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Chrome browsers, and is enabled by default.

TCP/IP network connections are made to external resources described in the Enterprise TCP/IP Requirements table below.

1 EQuIS Professional is available only as a 64-bit application. Requirements include EQuIS Alive (which also requires EQuIS Professional to be Installed).

2 EQuIS Enterprise is available only as a 64-bit application.

3 EQuIS Enterprise requirements include EQuIS Live, which is an Enterprise Widget set, report library, and requires EQuIS Enterprise.

4 EQuIS Live requires an EQuIS Enterprise installation.

5 EQuIS Collect requires an EQuIS Enterprise installation. See the Collect Mobile Device/Operating System Compatibility table below for device specific requirements.

6 Microsoft® System CLR Types for Microsoft SQL Server for GEOGRAPHY data type. This is included with the Enterprise and Professional installation packages.

7 Microsoft® Report Viewer is required. This is included in the Enterprise and Professional installation packages.

8 Use of SQL Server 2019 and later with EQuIS prior to Build 7.21.2 may lead to a "An expression services limit has been reached" error message. See this troubleshooting page.

9 These are recommended minimum requirements for installation of the EarthSoft applications. High Speed Internet is recommended for product download, online documentation, and the sign and submit option in EDP. The hard disk space does not include database requirements.

10 The EnviroInsite installer includes the Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable, Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable, and VectorDraw FileConverter 4 packages.

EQuIS Online Connectivity Requirements

EQuIS Enterprise

To connect to EQuIS Enterprise, you must have port 443 open to the EQuIS Online URL for your site.

EQuIS Window Applications (EQuIS Professional, SPM, etc.)

To connect through EQuIS Professional, you must have port 1433 open to the Azure SQL Server (FQDN) on which your EQuIS Online database resides.

For firewalls that do not support opening ports to FQDNs, EarthSoft Support can provide a list of IP addresses for the Azure SQL Gateway that contains the Azure SQL Server hosting the EQuIS Online database.

For clients using Azure Private DNS Zones, your IT/DNS team will need to add a CNAME Private DNS entry for your EQuIS Online Azure SQL Server, using the Azure Private Link address for the Azure SQL Server hosting the EOL database. The "dataslice" required is found by doing an nslookup for the Azure SQL Server address. Please note that this dataslice is part of the Azure infrastructure, and can be changed by Microsoft at any time without notice, and it may be necessary to do an additional nslookup to the new dataslice number in that Private DNS CNAME entry.

Encryption

These TCP connections are secured by an SHA-256 2048-bit certificate and TLS 1.2 encryption.
