Scalable Vector Graphics Files

SVG Use within EQuIS

Converting SVG Files

The Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file type is, as the name suggests, a graphics file type that can be rendered at any size without losing graphics quality, like all vector files. The default SVG viewer is typically the Microsoft Edge Internet browser, although many other browsing or graphics programs can also open these files, often at any size.

SVG Use within EQuIS

The following EQuIS components use or display SVG files:

EQuIS Collect

Drawings in EQuIS Collect use the SVG file type to allow images to be editable even after saving and uploading.

EQuIS EnviroInsite

Many EQuIS EnviroInsite reports output to SVG or appear as SVG files in their respective EnviroInsite widgets.

EQuIS Enterprise

The Document and Photo Browser Widget and Image Viewer Widget can view SVG files that are stored in the DT_FILE table.

Certain chart display widgets can also export SVG files.

EQuIS Live

Some EQuIS Live display widgets have the ability to export SVG files.

Converting SVG Files

A user can export an SVG file open in Microsoft Edge to a JPEG by:

1. Right-clicking on the image and selecting Web Capture.

2. Clicking Capture Full Page.

3. Clicking Save. The browser will download JPEG output of the file.

Within EQuIS, a "Copy Image" option is available when an SVG file is displayed in the Enterprise Document and Photo Browser or Image Viewer Widget. The output can then be pasted into an image editing program and saved in the desired file format.
