Geotechnical Schema

The EQuIS Geotechnical Schema (schema.geotech.xse) associated with EQuIS Geotech replaces previous geotechnical Schemas associated with the Geotechnical Module (Builds 19300 through 7.23.1). The Geotechnical Schema is available for download in the Products\EQuIS Geotech folder on the Downloads Dashboard on the EarthSoft Community Center. See the EQuIS Geotech Database Configuration article for installation instructions.

The Geotechnical Schema stores geotechnical data in the following tables:

EQuIS Table

Purpose

DT_AQUIFER_TEST_PARAMETER

Stores information on additional parameters associated with pumping tests.

DT_GEO_BACKFILL

Stores backfill information for a borehole or an excavation.

DT_GEO_CORING

Stores coring information.

DT_GEO_DISCONTINUITY

Stores discontinuity information such as fractures and joints. This table replaces the existing DT_GEO_DISCONTINUITY table to account for rock information.

DT_GEO_DISCONTINUITY_OBSOLETE

Renamed and replaced DT_GEO_DISCONTINUITY table created prior to the 7.22.3 Build.

DT_GEO_FRACTURE_SPACING

Stores fracture spacing in rocks.

DT_GEO_HOLE_SURVEY

Stores data collected when a hole is surveyed. Stores information about the survey event including the company, technician, and date.

DT_GEO_HOLE_SURVEY_RESULT

Stores data collected when a hole is surveyed. The data collected provides information for what angle the hole was drilled at.

DT_GEO_LAB_ASSIGN

Stores general information regarding the lab test assignment.

DT_GEO_LAB_ASSIGN_TEST

Stores detailed lab test assignment information per sample.

DT_GEO_MAJOR_STRUCTURE

Stores identified major structure information.

DT_GEO_RESULT

Stores result data from specific tests.

DT_GEO_ROCK_FIELD

Stores geotechnical parameters used to rank rock mass quality.

DT_GEO_STANDARD_PENETRATION

Stores details about the geotechnical Standard Penetration Test (SPT) results.

DT_GEO_TEST

Stores lab test information. A test can be performed on a sample or location, so OBJECT_EUID is used to link to the parent record.

DT_GEO_TEST_PARAMETER

Stores parameters for specific tests.

DT_GEO_TRAVERSE

Stores data for multiple traverses. Data for multiple traverses can be collected within one "location" (area). A single traverse can be identified by its start and end coordinates, dimensions, and orientation. This table will assign a GEO_TRAVERSE_CODE (GEO_TRAVERSE_ID) to each traverse.

DT_LITHOLOGY_COMPONENT

Stores details for lithologic components at specific locations. This can include existing DT_LITHOLOGY data like angularity and moisture; or additional data such as hardness and plasticity. Child table of the DT_LITHOLOGY table.

RT_AQUIFER_TEST_PARAM_TYPE

Reference table for the DT_AQUIFER_TEST_PARAMETER table.

RT_GEO_RESULT_CODE

Reference table for the DT_GEO_RESULT table.

RT_GEO_TEST_METHOD

Reference table for the DT_GEO_LAB_ASSIGN_TEST table. Stores information regarding the types of geotechnical tests conducted by labs.

RT_GEO_TEST_PARAM_TYPE

Reference table for the DT_GEO_TEST_PARAMETER table.

RT_LITHOLOGY_COMPONENT

Reference table for the DT_LITHOLOGY_COMPONENT table.

The following fields are also added to standard EQuIS Schema table when the Geotech Schema is applied:

EQuIS Table

EQuIS Field

Purpose

DT_DRILL_ACTIVITY

CONTRACTOR

Stores the company or subcontractor that performs the drilling at a specific location.

DRILL_OPERATOR

Stores the name of the person that performed the drilling at a specific location.

GEOLOGIST

Stores the name of the geologist responsible for the installation of a location.

DT_FACILITY

WORKFLOW_STATUS

Stores the status of the facility or project. Available statuses are:

‘None’,

‘inpr’ for in progress, and

‘comp’ for complete.

Any NULL entries are defaulted to ‘None’. See the WORKFLOW_STATUS article for more information.

DT_LITHOLOGY

EUID

Modifies the EQuIS Unique Identifier (EUID) so that it is required and will auto-fill with the latest value(s) from the EUID sequence. See the EUIDs article for more information.

DT_LOCATION

WORKFLOW_STATUS

Stores the status of the location. Available statuses are:

‘None’,

‘draf’ for draft, and

‘comp’ for complete.

Any NULL entries are defaulted to ‘None’. See the WORKFLOW_STATUS article for more information.

DT_SAMPLE

DIAMETER

Stores the measured diameter of the rock or soil sample.

DIAMETER_UNIT

Stores the unit the diameter is measured in.

DT_TASK

WORKFLOW_STATUS

Stores the status of the task. Available statuses are:

‘None’,

‘inpr’ for in progress, and

‘comp’ for complete.

Any NULL entries are defaulted to ‘None’. See the WORKFLOW_STATUS article for more information.

DT_WATER_TABLE

HOURS_AFTER

Stores the number of hours after water is first encountered during drilling a borehole.

STRIKE_DATE

Stores the date at which water is first encountered during drilling a borehole.

EQuIS Geotech uses database functions to facilitate reporting and to generate graphics using EnviroInsite templates (e.g., boring logs, subsurface profile). Geotechnical and EnviroInsite database functions are installed when the Geotechnical Schema (schema.geotech.xme) is applied to the database. See the EQuIS Geotech Functions chapter for specific details.
