Format Compatibility

Newer versions of a format may be used with older versions of EDP, and older formats may also be used with newer versions of EDP.

If using a different version of a format from the EDP version installed, follow the steps below to allow compatibility.

1.Backup the EQuIS Folder and Formats.

2.Close EDP and navigate to the folder that contains the format file.

3.Find the associated *.dll file and rename to *.dll.old.

4.Open the format in EDP Standalone.

5.Open the Windows File Navigator and type %temp% in the address bar

6.Copy the new .dll file from the temp folder into the original format file.

Note: Changes to formats are required in order to be used in EDP build 7.22.1 (see Securing EDD Formats for more information). Depending on the changes made, the format may or may not be compatible with pre-7.22.1 builds of EDP:

If file(s) have been embedded as a resource in the format, it will not be compatible in previous builds of EDP.

If a format has been strongly named, it will still be compatible with previous builds of EDP.
