Connect to a Facility or Facility Group

After connecting to a database in EQuIS Professional, the database can be expanded to view the Facility groups and individual facilities. Facility groups are displayed in the left-hand pane under the database within a given connection. Individual facilities display in the right-hand pane of the connection window.

 

To select a facility, expand the database or facility group folders until the expected facility is displayed in the right pane.

 

To open a facility, highlight and double-click the facility in the right pane (e.g. Springfield).

After logging into a facility, the lowest (Standard, if present) available license will automatically be checked out.

Save Connections

 

Save an EQuIS connection file with a specific facility by choosing Save or Save As after connecting to a facility.

 

1.Connect to a server.

2.Select a database.

3.Select a facility.

4.Click Save. Note this will update existing files.

5.Check the default file name and path, and update as desired or

6.Click Save As.

 

EQuIS connections may also be saved without specifying a facility (select Save at step one or two above rather than after facility selection).  

If updating an existing connection, disconnect to clear selections.

 

 

Note: By default, connections are saved to your '\AppData\Roaming\EarthSoft\Connections' folder to the Connection Location. This feature can be modified through the Options menu in the backstage view.  To take advantage of connection files as a way to launch Professional and connect simultaneously, save the connection files to a more convenient location.

 

Pin Connections

 

Connections may be pinned above the recent items list to save for easy access regardless of recent use.

 

1.Select the pin Pin to the right of the target connection, the connection is now pinned and added to the Pinned Connections section of the recent list.

2.Select the pin again to remove from the Pinned Connections section.

 

Pinned connections are saved to PinnedConnections.txt in the '\AppData\Roaming\EarthSoft\Connections' folder.

 

Log In to Saved Facility

 

1.Navigate to where the .equis file is stored and double-click to automatically launch EQuIS Professional and log in to the facility.

2.Go to the Open tab in EQuIS Professional.

a.Select a connection from the list of recent or pinned connections.

b.Browse to the '.equis' file.

 

Note: Saved connections from previous versions of EQuIS Professional in the xml format can be opened from the Open tab in the backstage view. See the Autosave New Connections section in the online help article Connecting EQuIS Professional To a Database for more details.

 

Connect to Facility or Facility Group

 

1.On the Connect tab, navigate to the desired database or facility group folders until the expected database is displayed in the right pane.

2.Select a facility and double-click to open it.

3.To open a Facility Group, select a Facility Group folder on the left-hand side of the screen and double-click the Facility Group.

 

Note: To search for a facility, select the database that the facility is in. EQuIS Professional will automatically filter facilities based on the search term, enter any facility information (facility name, facility code, city, etc.) in the search bar above the database list. The search results will appear in the right pane.

 

Status Bar

 

The Status Bar at the bottom of the EQuIS Professional window includes the user name and facility designated by the facility indicator. To change the facility from the Status Bar, click the Facility Indicator. This is identical to clicking the Connect tab located in the backstage menu.
