Action Levels - Populating Details and Parameters

Keywords: action, level, populating, parameters, removing, sorting, RT_ACTION_LEVEL_TYPE, DT_ACTION_LEVEL, 93595

Populating Action Level Details

When adding a new action level, the ACTION_LEVEL_CODE displays a default NAME. This name can be changed by highlighting the default name and typing in the desired name. Once saved, this name will appear in the Action Level Type pane when an action level is queried. The ACTION_LEVEL_TYPE appears in the Details pane; however, it cannot be edited there. The remaining fields in the Details pane are not required (leaving these fields null will allow the action level to be more flexible). For example, if the action level applies to all facilities, then leaving the FACILITY_ID field null will allow the action level to be available to all facilities. Action Level Forms now have "Save As" and "Copy As" functionality.

Notes:

1. In Professional v6.2.2 SP2 and earlier, special characters, such as commas, are disallowed in the ACTION_LEVEL_CODE field. Including special characters in the ACTION_LEVEL_CODE field will cause errors when trying to call the action level in reports.

2. It is recommended that a start date is entered, if it is important to maintain historical action levels.

3. In Professional v6.3.0 and later, Geologic Unit has been added to the Action Level Code Details form.

Editing Action Level Parameter Values

Once parameters have been added to the action level, the parameter values can be added:

  1. Select the parameter to edit.
  2. Use the Tab key on your keyboard to move from cell to cell or use the mouse to click on the cell to edit.
  3. Enter the action level values and a unit.

The only field required in the Parameters pane is the PARAM_CODE; however, to make the action level useful, the ACTION_LEVEL and unit fields must be populated (the remaining fields may be useful for certain reporting criteria). Once action level values have been edited, select Save from the File menu or click on the Save button  on the toolbar.

Sorting Action Levels

Sort data in the Available Parameters pane by clicking on the header of each column (CAS_RN, CHEMICAL_NAME). A triangle will appear that indicates an ascending (pointing up) or descending (pointing down) sort.

Note: Action Level column headers now reflect the correct appearances, sort, and show blank options at the top of the drop-downs.

Available Action Level Parameters

The Available Parameters pane is populated from the RT_ANALYTE table. Add new parameters to the available parameters by editing the RT_ANALYTE table.

Notes:

1. A feature has been added to the Action Level Form allowing the Available Parameters List to be searched by CHEMICAL_NAME.

2. The STATUS_FLAG for reference values must be set to A (for "approved") in order to be displayed in the Available Parameters pane.
